KnipBio Inc., a biotechnology company developing nutritional solutions for animal feeds, announced it finished second in the Nutreco Feed Tech Challenge Event held February 22nd and 23rd in the Netherlands. This challenge is designed to build a bridge between Nutreco’s corporate scientific community and start-ups who are developing innovation solutions to help solve the world’s food problems. Forty-four companies from around the world submitted their innovations to the competition. Ten of these were selected to come to Netherlands to present to the judges over a two-day event, and KnipBio made the cut for the final round, finishing second overall.
According to Larry Feinberg, PhD., co-founder and CEO of KnipBio, “We were selected to attend the Nutreco Feed Tech Challenge because Nutreco believes our technology for converting low-cost feedstocks into nutritious, single-cell proteins laden with pigment-enhancing carotenoids can have an enormous impact on the aquaculture industry. We are gratified that the judges saw our technology’s potential for significantly increase the availability of high-quality protein for the world’s growing population.”
According to Nutreco’s Chief Innovation Officer Viggo Halseth, “We were very impressed by the very high level of the competition and it is fair to say that for all finalists it was a performance in itself to have been selected to participate in the event. KnipBio is a very interesting start-up and we are keen on establishing a relationship to explore further engagement.”
